Daffodils for 2000
October 1999:

Suckley Parish Council's scheme to boost spring colour in the village got underway on 9th and 16th October when two Saturday morning working parties of villagers planted bulbs on verges and in public spaces. Another project underway is to photograph every property in Suckley for a 'Domesday' exhibition. For details, contact Linda Harvey at the Post Office.

Rural revival
September 1999:

Malvern Hills District Council have chosen two villages - Suckley and Ripple - to take part in a pilot 'rural regeneration' scheme, in which problems and opportunities will be discovered, and plans put into effect to, for example, find a central focus for the parishes.

Baptised at The Bower
June 1999:

American archivist Jay G Burrup visited Suckley and Alfrick in search of his ancestors, who came from this area.  Full story>>

Bruff information required
May 1999:

Graham Start is looking for information about Bruff Engineering - particularly with regard to the modifications they made for the railway on a bedford vehicle for road/rail use. Striking Competition Win
May 1999:

Postman Retires
January 1999:
After seventeen years of postal deliveries in Suckley (the last four years as associate postman using a bicycle), Ivor Bramich retired from his postround on Saturday 9th January 1999.

Bellringers' New Year Blackout
January 1999:
Bellringers ringing in the New Year at Suckley Church were treated to a power blackout at 00:05 on 1st January 1999. There was pandemonium for a few seconds as six ringers tried to stand their bells. Luckily no-one was hurt, power was restored a few minutes later and ringing could continue. full story>>
